Let's Support Dunearnites' Fund-raising Activity on 23rd and 24th May 2012
Dunearnites Won the 1st and 2nd Prize in the Xpresi Citra National Short Story Writing Competition
A total of 5 Dunearn pupils represented the school in the Xpresi Citra National Short Story Writing and Creative Drama Competition, jointly organized by the Malay Language Promotion Committee (MLLPC) and the North, South, East and West Zone Schools.
In a competition amongst 58 schools nationwide, Khairunissa Bte Suhaimi of 2 Opal and Nur Syafiqah Bte Hosni of 2 Sapphire did the school proud by emerging as the 1st and 2nd positions respectively for West Zone Schools. Not only they clinched the two top positions for their outstanding writing and drama skills, our school also walked away with the consolation prizes in the finals for the Creative Drama category. Well done, Dunearnites!
Excellent TA Award awarded to Edison Ting
The NCS eTA (Excellent TA) Award is awarded to excellent TAs in recognition of their outstanding performance in Schools and exhibiting NCS Core Values in the course of their work (Customer Focus, Challenger Spirit, Teamwork, Integrity, and Personal Excellence).
Congratulations to Mr Edison Ting for being awarded the Excellent TA or eTA award by Schools SOE for the 1st quarter of 2012. His commitment and customer centric work philosophy and values deserves the praise and support of Dunearn Secondary School!
Teachers’ Protected Time on 23rd April 2012 - Circle Time for Teachers
Teachers’ Protected Time on 23 April was a refreshing break from the usual Monday afternoon routine for all staff when they reprised their roles as students for a classroom Circle Time exercise. Circle Time is a classroom strategy where learners get to sit in a circle to carry out an assigned task. Our teachers, Mr Kenneth Ng and Mr Nuriskandar who are trained in conducting Circle Time shared with all teachers the rationale and features of the strategy as well as their experiences in using the approach in their classes. In this activity, the teachers were divided into 2 groups, which role-played a classroom situation each during a Circle Time.
It was an afternoon filled with a lot of hands-on learning with a lot of mirth and action, but it was certainly no circus time for all the teachers!
